Vit K is responsible for blood clotting and it takes active part in protein creation in our bodies. This vitamin is mostly contained in plant foodstuffs, such as greens. However, it can also be found in certain meats. That is why supplying your baby with regular feeding up is important. Babies of 6 months and older should start getting their foodstuffs, including such hypoallergenic types, as cooked spinach. Cooked spinach is very full with vitamin K.

Other vitamin K foods are broccoli, Brussels sprouts, lettuce, kale, parsley, etc. Most of them can be added into babies' diet in small amounts in pretty early age.

Foods, less abundant in vitamin K are meats, for example turkey, lamb or chicken. Chicken or turkey meats can also be included into newborns' diet, when they reach up to eight months of age.

Should you be expecting a baby, you should make up your mind on whether to concur or not to administer it vitamin K shot right after the birth. In this way, your baby can get an adequate amount of vitamin K way before it can consume any of the vitamin K foods and make its blood clotting.
